Domestic Abuse Support

After conversations with the local community we knew we needed to help create a space and the capacity where the voice of women who may have or are experiencing abuse, can be heard.
We encouraged local people and organisations to train up to be domestic abuse champions, having the skills to have difficult conversations and know where to support women to the next step. The local school academy trained up teachers and support staff, trainee social workers stepped forward, as did members of the Clements community.
But in order to receive more intensive support women were having to travel 20 miles away, so we started to advocate for services to be set up in Haverhill at Suffolk County wide meetings. Women's aid stepped up and with our local support were awarded funding to run a support group and a freedom program in Haverhill
